Event QR Check-in Platform
Ionic event app with QR/barcode scanning, Firebase backend, printing/sharing, and analytics for on-site check-in flows.
Outcomes
Door speed
Scan-first
Check-in matches real queue pressure.
Backend
Firebase-backed
Event data without heavy custom infra.
Visibility
Ops charts
Organizers see throughput during the event.
Context
Door queues punish any UX that requires typing.
Challenge
On-site event teams needed fast check-in, scannable credentials, and operational stats — without a fragile paper process.
Approach
We built an Ionic/Angular app integrated with Firebase, barcode/QR scanning, camera, printer and sharing plugins, plus charts for operational visibility during events.
Architecture
Ionic Angular client, Firebase app services, native scanner/printer plugins, charting for ops stats.
Scope
- QR/barcode check-in
- Staff tooling
- Firebase sync
- Basic analytics
Constraints
- Offline-ish venue Wi-Fi
- Device camera variance
- Peak concurrent scans
Solution highlights
- Scanner as the primary interaction
- Firebase for fast event backend standup
- Ops charts for organizers during the show
Technologies
Results
- Scan-first check-in suitable for door operations
- Cloud-backed event data via Firebase
- Share/print paths for staff workflows
- Live-ish operational charts for organizers
Lessons learned
- Event apps are won or lost at the door.
- Always rehearse on the real hardware.
- Assume network pain at venues.
